Corner Brook, Newfoundland
On day thirty-two, Zuiderdam had planned for St. John's, NF. The captain decided to sail instead to Corner Brook because
hurricane Ernesto was heading northeast, toward St. John's. When we were in Corner Brook on day five last, we went to Gros Morne National Park. So, this time we plan to explore the town
more.

After lunch, we took a taxi into Corner Brook. The cab driver was reluctant to take us because he was hoping to get a longer fare.
Two other people showed up and told them they were with a tour going to the Captain Cook Monument. The driver finally conceded and took us to the Corner Brook
City Hall. We had read
that we could access the
roof there to take pictures.
The city maintains the
rooftop as though it was a
park, with benches and a garden for relaxing. But nature had other plans and it started to rain. So, we
made our way to the
museum next door. It was
an interesting museum
with a lot of historical
exhibits about the city.
Accord to our plan, we walked toward our destination for dinner. We stopped at a neighborhood bar called Whelan's gate for a drink, and to avoid the downpour
that started soon after we arrived. When it subsided, we walked
about a block to Newfound Sushi, a
sushi restaurant. Here is a list of our
dinner items:
-
Hiyashi Wakame (left picture)
-
Spicy Scallop Roll (right picture)
-
Cod Bao Bun
-
Saba sashimi
-
Spicy Tuna Roll
-
Unagi nigiri
This was the second fine meal of the cruise. We called for a cab and went back to the ship.
